The Line Must Be Drawn HERE!

bestbuyRemember a few weeks back when I told you guys about Best Buy offering a $129 install for the PS3?  Well it seems Best Buy is taking another approach to scam its customers.  Recently on the Consumerist, it was reported that BB was opening up Xbox 360 consoles, updating them, resealing them claiming they are “inspected,” and then charging an additional $29.99 for this service.

The first thing that pisses me off about this is that the “firmware update” is something anyone can do.  Mostly everyone who owns a 360 has it connected to the internet or Xbox live.  Hell most of the time, the games themselves update the system in order to continue.  This little service Best Buy is doing is nothing short of a SCAM. Isn’t ANY game or system that is OPENED and USED not supposed to be sold as new?  Was there not a huge legal issue with Gamestop renting out its “gut copy” of new games to employees?  What makes what this Best Buy is doing any different?

In the original article, it’s stated it was only at one Best Buy this has been seen at.  I am going to personally go to my local Best Buy and see if they are doing this as well.  I would suggest that if anyone else sees anything like this at their local BB to take a picture and hold on to it.  If this becomes wide spread, I feel there should be action taken against  Best Buy.  Offering a service is one thing, but what this Best Buy is doing is just a straight up SCAM.

Best Buy once again earns HBG’s stamp of SHIT.  I will NEVER shop at a Best Buy for ANY REASON EVER AGAIN.  The only way to stop this madness is to not support these corporate piles of crap.

Best Buy, I’d like to put some BYIM..

This is dam outrageous, i want to know who is in charge of all this.

Its like if you went to a store bought a board game and for $30.00 they offered you to come to your house and set up each piece.

Oh, thankfully, there’s a Fry’s here in Vegas. Now I have a superior alternative to Best Buy, when I need it.

I like Best Buy. Obviously I would never get stuff like this from them. People should do research before they buy anyway. Also, that particular best buy sounds bad lol.

How can someone do “research” on something like this. Most parents during the holiday this year will get a list from their child and buy whats on it. Simple fact is that best buy pulls this kinda stuff all the time.

Yeah this is bullshit. Best Buy needs to stop tricking the market into thinking this is a deal. It’s not that hard to believe that people would walk into a store seeing this and think it’s a bargain. I mean the way they put it an “upgraded” system for only $30 more?! That’s so cheap right guys? …Right?

This is total and utter Bull Shit, this is getting way out of hand, with Circuit City gone, BB feels they can do what they want, and customers will keep buying into their evil plan. Suck as much money out of people as they can. What will they do next? I am afraid for the future.

The sad thing is, there are probably people out there that have already bought into this scam.

I never really shopped at Best Buy to begin with. The only reason I do shop there is because their DVD collection is good and fairly priced.
