Kids Love Their Nintendo More Than Anything

According to a study done by the Smarty Pants firm, kids prefer Nintendo over everything else, including fast food!  I’m surprised by this for the simple fact, I thought kids loved happy meals.  An online survey done by over 4,700 kids(with their parents or course) polled each child to see what he or she preferred most out of 260 different consumer brands.  The Nintendo Wii and DS came in spots number 1 and 2, beating out Fruit Roll-ups, McDonalds, Dorritos, and even Toys R Us.  Xbox 360 came in 42nd and PlayStation at 14th on the top 100 results of this study.

I’m not too surprised about 360, what 6 year old wants to play Gears of War?  I am on the other hand, shocked to see PlayStation did so well.  Nonetheless, I remember feeling like Nintendo owned my childhood, and now it seems the same is true for the current generation of children.  It’s been true since I was a kid, Nintendo Rules the world.

You know, I hear a lot of, once people get older, they grow out of Nintendo, and move on to something like the Xbox or PlayStation. I think that’s a stereotype though.

I have both a PS3 and Nintendo Wii, and I’ll admit that yes, at the moment, I am using my PS3 a lot more than my Wii. That’s not to say though that I don’t use my Wii.

I think there’s never been a better time in the video game industry to own more than one console. The Wii and 360/PS3 really do complement eachother very well.

Although each system has their “hardcore” and “casual” games, I find that at the moment, I use my Wii for the more simple games, and my PS3 for the more larger, “hardcore” games. MGS 4 for example.

I just want to tell people, don’t close the door to any console, because then really, your missing out.

Kreyg, we need to get some Mario Kart Wii Online action goin on, ya hear me? :)

There really going to compare food to a video game console?
I mean i dont think little kids love fast food that much, i can see why they would pick a console that they probably play everyday.
Hell i would pick my xbox over “fruit by the foot”..
But at least Nintendo still has a nack for making things that people will buy even if they are kids.

well, I could say this is true, because when I was 6, everyday after school I was psyched to get on the Nintendo 64 and play Mortal Kombat

Nintendo knows how to appeal to kids, they realize the entire population of gamers doesn’t need a “hardcore” fps to have fun.

On another note I think it’s great that Nintendo beat McDonalds.

Nintendo will always rule especially if you’re a kid. Nintendo is a perfect system to start out with in this new era of games. To get a kid to play game that I once and still do play(Super Metroid, A Link To The Past and Parasol Stars) is something hard to do. Most kids want to play games like Super Smash Bros Brawl or whatever is on the Wii. And as they get older they start leaning towards either the 360 or PS3.

Nintendo has had a “hit” console every gen just about. NES, SNES, N64. Nintendo is probably the only company that can make a game from a simple idea and be successful.

Wow, I have to admit that’s awesome. Growing up, I probably would have said the same thing. It felt like my whole life was consumed by everything Nintendo. In fact, video games was synonymous with the name Nintendo.

So it wasn’t “Do you want to play video games?” It was, “Do you want to play Nintendo?” Mario, Zelda, Duck Hunt… Holy smokes, my life at the time really was consumed by everything Nintendo.

Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if my six year old brother would chose Nintendo in that survey as well. It’s hilarious to watch him play video games, since he’s pretty much obsessed. lol

At the moment, he can’t get enough of Wii. He’s always playing Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Party 8, Wii Fit, and Super Smash Brothers Brawl. He loves the games, although I have too admit he probably plays games a little more than he should. So I have too look out for that.

Anyways, I think that was a cool survey. For me personally, I still love Nintendo, but right now I’m heavily into my PlayStation 3. I’m going through MGS 4, and damn, this game is just amazing! :) Peace.

I’m not really surprised by this. Though Nintendo is trying to aim for more mature audience lately, they will always dominate the childhood with simple, fun characters such as Mario and fad games such as pokemon.

Admit it, probably everyone’s childhood on this site consisted of at least one Mario, or nintendo game that they loved, and it will always be this way, unless Nintendo starts making real shitty adult games and stops producing awesome kids games.
