It seems as of late a lot of unstable people have been playing video games. In Yorkshire, England, teenager James Callaghan didn’t take too kindly too losing in FIFA so he decided to get drunk, grab an axe and a knife and proceed to reign terror. According to sources, he threatened two girls, hit someone passing by on the head with the axe, terrified a cyclist and tried to smash his way into an apartment.
That wasn’t even the worst part of this story. Before the police could stop Callaghan, he forced his way into 65 year old Irene Roberton’s home and killed her. Callaghan was said to have “struck her six times on the head with the axe, chopped off a finger and repeatedly stabbed her in the back, stomach and leg.”
When he was later found by police, he surrendered and admitted to killing the woman. Callaghan has said to have had a past history with violence and drinking. The Daily Mail made sure to report that Callaghan played GTA even though GTA was not involved in this incident at all. They also mentioned he had gone on a drunken rampage once before. It’s a sad story, but another gamer who was drunk did something horrible.
Our prayers go out to the family of Irene Roberston.
Teenager killed widow with axe in drink-fuelled rage after losing a computer game to his brother [Daily Mail Via Kotaku]

And here they all were thinking FPS and GTA games caused violence lol. The way I see it, it comes down to the person not the games. People need to take responsibility for their actions. I feel sorry for that family though.
It’s sad to see that yet again people go crazy over games..
Crazy Dood.
It’s like a single person soccer riot. Crazy ass people in this world, eh?
… man the whole world is going crazy and the only answer for those f***in politicians blame the video games the gaming community gets slowly excommunicated because of stupid f**ks like that it always goes that way and its frustating me to tears im living in Germany and just a day ago a 16 year old girl tryed to go postal with a sword and molotows in her school so here we go again blame the games we all know that you want to blame the games you damn politicians -.-
D-D-D-DoucheBag.
ENGLAND WHAT IS YOUR FUCKING PROB?!
I HATE LIVING HERE
I think people are too absorbed with gaming. If violent gaming is mixed with alcohol, this will lead to something like this, maybe. In other words, Wow =\
wow ppl get WAY 2 far into a game cuz its just pixels not real life
You’re a piece of shit.
What the hell is wrong with the world?
That guy seriously had a problem with his mind.
I get annoyed sometimes playing fifa, though going on a rampage, is just no way to deal with it!
wow i think that is all that can be said just wow…
crazy people!
it makes you wonder if games did have somtin to do wit this…anywho sad story… + this gives us gamers a bad name… just suck it up if you lose…CRAP:/
gta had nothing to do with that thats him being a complete dumbass
I feel bad cause that might have been me that started his rampage :\
Blame GTA. That is the most logical explanation for everything.
“What started World War II?
GTA.
Wow that was in my hometown. I decided to comment on the article because I’m sick of the shit rags (newspapers) always blaming GTA about everything.
The guy is a fucking paranoid schizophrenic and had problems and was violent from being a child but for some reason it was playing games that was the problem. >_>
OF COURSE they made sure to report he played GTA, OF COURSE
o.o DAYUM
Somehow, and I mean always, the news, or public will relate any violence committed by a video gamer back to GTA, ALWAYS!! Stupid blokes!
The Daily Mail are always shit stirrers, fucking terrible newspaper.
This is a very sad case, the kid clearly had mental issues.
What in the hell is wrong with people these days. Who, when they are drunk says. Hey, I think I am gonna take this axe and kill some people. This story is almost as bad as the father killing his son. I am very scared for the future, cause these just seem to be getting worse.
