Social Tools The “Heart” Of Xbox’s Future?

The Xbox 360 is bringing a series of new features to the Xbox 360 which include Facebook and Twitter.  Recently in an interview with TechRadar, Microsoft’s Senior Regional Director of Norther Europe, Neil Thompson talked about these features, saying,

Everyone wants to tweet, everyone wants to Facebook and I can tell you that we will expand the types of services we offer over time because we think this is just the core element for what the future of entertainment is

Neil Thompson then went on to say he feels these social tools are the “heart” of the Xbox’s future,

The social capabilities that we bring are going to be at the heart of what we do in the future.

The heart of what I might ask?  Is Microsoft gonna turn it into FaceTweet 360 where we get Twitter and Facebook games as opposed to real games?  While I’m sure this is not what he means, he didn’t get into it too much more, but you must wonder what they have in store as far as these social features go.

I think the gaming society is losing track of the core, and is going way too far in stuff like twitter and facebook. Isn’t a console meant for gaming?

They need to put twitter in the guide menu,It kinda sucks when you have to be in the dashboard to look at tweets and make tweets

FaceTweet360?? REALLY?!?! Wow If Microsoft does that…It would be big fail. I like twitter and facebook but not to the extent that Mircosoft is putting it at. :/ I just thing this would be failure on their part and it might bring down the whole Gaming corp. >.>

I really will not use any of them, I don’t need that on my xbox. That is what I have a computer for, and I really do not use them on there anyway. I am sure this will be great news for some people, but I don’t really see the need for it on a console.

The only thing I could see myself using is the twitter feature. It could replace the whole Raptr thing I use now. Which would be nice (no offense raptr)

I wouldn’t mind having the Facebook application, but to have it be the sole purpose of owning an Xbox is a bit over the top. Although I’m sure that he means other than total Social take-over of the 360, I wouldn’t have used the same words he did, that’s what starts rumors…Kreyg! >:D
