Michael Pachter is a man known for making some pretty bold predictions in the gaming industry. His latest and greatest prediction is that Modern Warfare 2 will sell $500 million at release. He also said that Modern Warfare 2 will “easily sell 10 million units in Q4.”
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 should allow Activision to achieve guidance. We expect global sales to exceed $500 million in the first week following launch, and think that the company can easily sell 10 million units in Q4.
While we know that Modern Warfare 2 is easily one of the most anticipated games in a while can it sell that many copies? With the holiday season and the already astounding number of pre-order on the game, he just could be right. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. Modern Warfare 2 is set to release on 3 different platforms on November 10th.
Pachter: Modern Warfare in week 1 will “exceed $500 million” [VG247]

Yea, that’s a very bold statement but I can see it happening. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is probably the MOST anticipated title ever for the Xbox.
actually this could happen with all the cool feature’s in multiplayer that I’m seeing like that new nuke achievement (or whatever) I’m actually getting it cause it looks beautiful and the gameplay looks AW- and SOME!!!!
Should we be surprised? All the hype will give them a nice wad of money
I won’t be surprised at all considering all of the hype Modern Warfare 2 has gotten.
I honestly would not be surprised at all if it hit that. Such an overhyped game right now. Enough hype that people are laughing at others when they say they AREN’T going to get it. No doubt it’ll bring in the big bucks.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it got to that much.
They must be really proud of what they’re producing.
it may get there, it might not, we’ll see when it’s released
That’s a pretty big statement there, my only hope is that they decided not to half-ass the game. This is one of the perfect titles for a company to do a crappy job on and still know that it will sell millions.
That’s a dangerous combination for a company with someone like Robert Kotick as a CEO.
It could get there, but just because the game sells millions, it doesn’t make the game the best game out there.
