Gameboy Inducted to Toy Hall of Fame

This is something I felt could not be ignored.  As a child I played the original Gameboy quite often.  With games Tetris, Super Mario Land, to Pokémon, I’m sure we all remember the original Gameboy.  The National Toy Hall of Fame has recently inducted the original Gameboy to the great toys of the past.

The National Toy Hall of Fame lists the Gameboy saying,

No video-game platform did more to put gamers “on the go” than Nintendo Game Boy. And go they did—bringing their gaming experience to school, to summer camp, and to the back seat of the family automobile. Over the past two decades, Game Boy has become synonymous with portable gaming fun.

I couldn’t agree more.  I remember all the times I was glad to have a Gameboy to play when I was somewhere without my game consoles.

Thanks Gameboy for all the “on the go” fun you’ve provided over the years, you’ve earned it!!

Who here played a Gameboy?  Tell us!

That was my first handheld system that I bought with my own money. I had a blue one and I thought it was the coolest thing…until Gameboy color. :D

Good for the Gameboy, it deserves it. It’s been a great innovation, not to mention the endless hours of fun you had on it as child (since there are DS’s now, no one seems to care about the good ol’ Gameboy pocket D:).

    Couldn’t agree more indeed.

I got hooked with the gameboy pocket since that was the first game system I got. I still remember the commercial of the gameboy being made in the factory. Classic times Classic times. This is a honor to Nintendo and to all portable game systems

Oh boy let me tell you! lol I remember playing my Gameboy during school and the teacher hearing the blips and boops and saying “What is that?” and that’s when I shove to the back of my desk.

The first Gameboy I even had was kinda taken from someone. My family were on a Vacation Trip and there was an Asian family staying in the same “lodge” as us. I would always see their boy just sitting on the swing playing a gameboy. One night he was called in for dinner and left it on the swing. I snatched it up and hid it in my dads suitcase.

The down side, that game it had was not in english! lol but I tell you what it was fun as hell.

I wasn’t a fan of the Gameboy (only because I had one game: Tetris) but it was the system that helped the development of many handheld and console video game systems.

To make it into the Toy Hall of Fame is definitely an accomplishment. Congratulations Nintendo!

Nintendo revolutionized the handheld market when it released the Game Boy, and they have pwnd anyone else that has tried to enter the fray. Congrats Game Boy, you have definitely earned it.

Oh man, this is awesome! The gameboy definitely deserves a spot in toy hall of fame. I remember me and my brothers always playing bomberman and pokemon yellow lol. That old grey box that played games that you had to tile the screen in the perfect light to see haha

Wow, I did not even know there was a toy HOF. Now that I do, this deserves to be in it. This IS the hand held that changed hand held games. I think almost everyone has played a gameboy at one point in their lives.

I didn’t know there was a Toy HOF either, but the Game Boy DEFINITELY belongs there, all those hours of Tetris man..
