Kill Civilians Gets You a Game Over

It appears that Germany will be getting a slightly censored version of the upcoming game Modern Warfare 2.  A while back, a graphic first scene of Modern Warfare 2(spoilers) was leaked onto the internet and people asked if Infinity Ward took things too far.  It appears that Germany’s edition Modern Warfare 2 has felt this way.

When the player begins to fire upon the civilians in that first scene, the player will receive a game over screen.  While it seems the scene will stay in the game, if you live in Germany, you can’t take part in it.  While most other countries are given the option to participate or not, Germany will lose the option to interact.

In the German version, however, the game ends immediately with a sort of Game Over message, if the player decides to fire on civilians

This doesn’t seem that bad, but I’m sure if Germany is getting this slightly “censored” or “altered” version, than the one in Australia will probably even more censored.  I bet the terrorists will throw teddy bears at the civilians and you will be forced to watch.

in my opinion buying a game like mw2 in germany is total worthless its like throwin your money out of the window im not paying for a incomplete game version like that …. well after L4D1 im getting always imports then thats the only option to avoid games that are butcherd by censorship -.-

It’s like L4D2 in Australia, censored is better than banned.

yeah, I think that was why they allowed the scene to stay in the game as opposed to taking it out. The lack of interactivity with the scene is I feel how they could keep it in the game.

What I find funny about the whole thing is that they are pretty much leaving the scene in the game, but if you try to participate in it. GAME OVER. Like, really? for real?

Isn’t that kind of odd, the natural instinct for gamers is to kill innocent civilians. I mean it’s not our fault they look at us wrong or get in my way! lol :D

I can’t blame Germany, it’s a pretty gruesome scene. To be honest, if I had children, I would not want them playing that scene.

That is crazy, but the Germans are strict about games. I thought IW did a good thing by giving you the option to skip it, but apparently that is not good enough for the Germans.
