Xbox Live Breaks Records

Today, Xbox Live had a record breaking day.  Two million people were connected to Xbox Live service at one time today.  I’m sure a lot of those people were playing Modern Warfare 2, but that is still impressive.  Imagine cramming all two million of those people into a small room to play Xbox?

The announcement was made by Major Nelson through a tweet

We just hit a new #XboxLIVE record: Over TWO MILLION people connected to the service at once.

Congrats to the guys at MS for that achievement.  Let me turn on my xbox to add to those 2 million.

Do they really mean connected? It doesn’t sound very impressive to me. I would think there are always 2 million people connected. The install base is over 30 million, no?

Just think of it this way, there would have been 3 million if they didn’t ban those consoles.

You can’t argue with the numbers. To boot, Modern Warfare2 has sold twice as many units on the 360 than on the PS3. That speaks volumes to Microsoft’s presence.

i don’t want to imagine cramming those 2 mil into one room. I imagine it would smell like sweat and fear.

Highfives all around chaps, now all we need is Microsoft giving a couple hundred Microsoft Points to commemorate the occasion.

I was a part of it, I think. Pretty soon PSN will brag about some feet that they just accomplished. I am glad for XBL, and glad I am a part of XBL.
