He Asked For Modern Warfare 2, But Got This Instead

Someone asked their Grandfather for Modern Warfare 2 for Christmas and ended up with this instead.

This is why you need to be very specific with older people.  They don’t know about half the stuff we do.  Despite receiving this and an outburst of laughter when he opened it, user Syaoran07 over at Reddit still said thank you and actually enjoyed some of the movies.

They say it’s the thought that counts, right?  At least he didn’t get coal.

I asked for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 for Christmas, this is what i got [Reddit]

i just looked at this again, and the guy in the bottom right corner of the DVD box kind of looks like an angry Greg Arganda with a mustache.

Awe, it’s the thought that counts =)

    He tried, yes?

It’s happened to be before and I’ve quite enjoyed the mistake gift very much [years ago I asked for splinter cell [forgot to put "double agent xbox 360 game" at the end] and my cousin [who was my secret santa] gave me every splinter cell book [as well as a few other tom clancey novels]. I’m a huge reader next to being a crazy gamer; so I loved my “mistake” gift.

Ha, this has happened to me, I can understand. The box did say Modern Warfare, she got something right. I would have laughed at this also, there would be no reason to get mad.

  27. MPR11 December 29, 2009 at 14:36 - Reply

Ha thats like when I got the same game from two different family members! Luckly I was able to return it. This is why money is always a good gift!

It’s nice to see that even though his Grandfather got him the wrong Modern Warfare, Syaoran07 still took it well. I also agree that it’s the thought that counts.

  34. Froodge December 29, 2009 at 11:28 - Reply

Well at least Syaoran07 didnt get angry about his grandfather buying the wrong video game or movie.

  35. cynicalbrit December 29, 2009 at 11:16 - Reply

Yeah, I do gifts by an Amazon wish list. My mom then receives money from various people and arbitrarily delegates the money to items on the wish list. Works like a charm.
Good to see that this guy took it well.

  36. woofer28 December 29, 2009 at 11:15 - Reply

Ouch that has gotta sting. Thanks Grandma!

  37. .:Ra:. December 29, 2009 at 10:56 - Reply

Haha, this is funny, but at least he tried.

  38. Blue Wolf X53 December 29, 2009 at 09:54 - Reply

This is why I show the person getting me the gift the box art of the game or movie. But Syaoran07 still like some of movies and thank his Grandfather for it, it’s the thought that counts.

  39. Kreyg December 29, 2009 at 07:13 - Reply

This reminds me of the time when I got Rise 2 Resurrection on PS1 from my mom for Christmas. I wasn’t really mad cause she tried. But the funny thing was, I saw the game in the clearance bin at this store a few days before xmas, haha. When I opened it, she asked “will that work with your PS2″ and I said, yeah my mom, it’s great.

I facepalmed, and then I got a sad face, and then I felt like patting the grandfather on the back.

  43. Nuckles37 December 29, 2009 at 05:35 - Reply

That is why I ask for money instead of gifts…

    • Nuckles37 December 29, 2009 at 05:41 - Reply

I remember when I was really young, and pokemon yellow version was coming out.
      I wanted it so badly
and one night my grandma came over to my house and gave me and my brother what she thought was pokemon yellow version.
Turned out to be pokemon pinball.
p.s. yellow version wasn’t out until a month later
