Man Suffers Temporary Blindness from Gaming Session

It’s every gamers worst nightmare, a loss of sight is a surefire way to lose interest in the hobby. Sadly, this is exactly what happened to a Chinese man named Xu.

Xu was having a domestic dispute with his wife, ultimately leading him to travel to a cyber cafe to relax. Unfortunately, Xu went a little overboard and ended up going four days without sleep. His marathon gaming session was abruptly ended when he complained of his loss of vision. Xu was able to reach a doctor, where he was diagnosed with temporary blindness. The age of the man has not been released to the public.

This story goes to show that everything requires moderation, specifically if your hobby involves staring at a screen for long periods of time. Try not to go overboard with the gaming sessions and you’ll be fine.

Wow, that guy must really hate his wife. I mean, 4 days in a cyber cafe! What the hell was he playing?

    Yikes.

I hope he gets better; that sucks.

Everything in moderation indeed. Certain games cause moderate to severe eye pain for me after playing for 10-30 minutes [rare times... the"new" banjoo and kazooie game, halo 3]

i dunno I’ve never gone 4 days play games with no sleep. I’ve played for 6 hours straight with sleep and been tired lol.

This is the reason why people are always saying to take a break from the computer or video game for 10 minutes so it doesnt cause health problems.

This article really has open my eyes literally lol. I personally I’m a person who stares at the computer almost all day because I’m on my favorites sites like Hbgnews.com and other sites reading articles or making post. I really need to start to moderate how many hours I’m on the computer and let my eyes relax for a bit.

Well at least he isn’t another to add to the list of those who have died playing videogames. However people really need to be careful about their habits with bright screens.

A gamer’s nightmare indeed. I can’t say I’ve experienced temporary blindness from long gaming sessions. Only my eyes get sore from staring at the TV for so long and just closing them for a minute then rubbing seem to help.

Damn dude, Idk what I’d do if this happened to me. I sit in front of the computer quite often and for extended periods of time each day. Well, I’m already half blind, I do wear glasses :(
