An Interesting Occurrence On Star Trek Online

Captain’s log, Stardate 87699.31. It was an interesting night last night on Star Trek Online.  It wasn’t because I was getting rejected by female officers, or starting dance parties at club 47, but something unusual that happened while we were dancing and at hanging around at the Earth Spacedock.

While DJ and Ronny were dancing around, I had went to change my uniform.  While I was changing, in an titillated voice Ronny said, “Ohh my god!”  DJ and I then asked Ronny what had happened to make him sound so excited. It was then Ronny said, “This guy gave me 1,000,000 energy credits.”  If you don’t know, energy credits are the in-game currency for STO.

A player we didn’t know walked up to Ronny and gave him a million in-game dollars.  It was strange, but awesome at the same time.  I finished changing my uniform and ran over to DJ and Ronny.  When I got there, the user who had given the money to Ronny asked if we were in a fleet.  When I replied yes, he said to split what he had given Ronny.  The generosity didn’t stop there though.  The player unloaded his inventory onto the three of us.

Salute

We then had to ask him why he was giving us all this.  He told us he was a medical student who didn’t really have the time to play.  Apparently he did over the weekend though.  It must have taken a lot to amass 1 million energy credits and the inventory of items he had.  We thanked him for what he did and then saluted the player for being so awesome.  It’s not everyday in an MMO you meet someone who wants to unload their inventory on you.

What happened next though made things even more interesting.  He asked us if we used a site called JTV.  It was such a strange coincidence that he had just given us all this and then asked if we used the site that powers our live broadcast.  He said he doesn’t watch many of the gaming channels, but has stopped in to some of the ones play STO recently.  He was sure he had stopped by our broadcast at some point.

What To Do With My Energry Credits

Suffice to say it was not only weird to get all that in-game money and items, but meet a fellow JTV user.  Now I just need to figure out how to spend my share of that 1 million energy credits.  Should I buy a new ship or save it?
