Yes, we were all aware that Project Needlemouse was a Sonic game. But what we were not told of until this point was that the new game–now appropriately titled Sonic the Hedgehog 4–is a direct sequel to Sonic & Knuckles, a game released back in 1994.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is a 2D sidescroller first and foremost, an approach that has been virtually untouched by Sega for over a decade. But what is even more interesting about the announcement is the fact that the game will be episodic. You can look for ‘Episode 1′ to be released this summer on the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and a fourth unannounced platform.
This is one of the last chances that Sega has to regain confidence of the Sonic name in the eyes of gamers, the question is, can they accomplish it?
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 [Sega]

Awsome!!!!
all i have to say is SEGAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
SEGA DOES WHAT NINTENDON’T MOTHERF’ER!
They better not screw this up.
I feel like I’m 7 again. ^_^ Life back then is so easy compared to now but hey you gotta do what you gotta do to keep the old format and blend it with the new format. This game is going to be awesome I can’t wait for it.
I’m somewhat exited for this. It’s nice to Sonic back in his 2D glory. Hopefully Sega did a fine job making this for the old school Sonic fans.
If its even remotely as good as the sonic rush games on ds, then I’m in.
I can’t wait to play this, Sonic 2 is one of my fav games ever.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4, coming to 360 PS3 Wii and a Dreamcast near you.
Hm. I dunno about this one. Ill have to play it to judge though.
Once you fail go back to what you know.
Yes! Finally! They got it right this time! They finally listened to the fans and reverted back to there original 2-d side scrolled gameplay. I loved the sonic games as a kid, used to play them everyday. I had sonic 1-3 so im very existed that they will bring back the old style gameplay.
