The master of mods and Wisconsin’s own Benjamin J. Heckendorn, known to the Internet as Ben Heck, has a new project for a paying customer that of course needs to shown off before it gets shipped out. This project is none other than a PS3 laptop.
This PS3 laptop’s insides where once a PS3 slim before being placed in their new home. Ben lists the specs of the new PS3 laptop:
- 17″ widescreen 720p HDMI display.
- Built-in stereo speakers & headphone jack.
- Compartment to store power cord. (left side bottom of unit)
- Stylish pin striping to make games run at blast processing!
- More air holes than a stock Slim, not that it really needs them (cough cough Xbox 360)
To me it looks much more like a briefcase but I guess PS3 briefcase doesn’t have the same ring to it. Ben also made a mention about how he firmly believes the Xbox 360 slim is coming out by saying that:
I can’t wait to get an Xbox 360 Slim. You know they’re coming. I went into Best Buy at opening the day the PS3 Slim came out and bought one before they were even put on the floor and took it apart 1 hour later. Same thing’s gonna happen with the Xbox 360 Slim.
For the sake of persons who can afford Ben’s services that the slim 360 does come out. Ben also said “if you have a crazy idea and the money I can make the time!” trust me I would if I could.
As if all the awesome pictures weren’t enough Ben made a very informative and funny video summarizing the PS3 laptops features and maybe a tease of a future project.

Ever since you posted that N64boy I have been wandering around the Ben Heck and Mod Retro forums. They have a lot of great mods over there. One of the users is in the process of making a portable Wii. It’s been about 4 days since I lasted checked and it was just about done then.
I have a lot of older consoles laying around and I even considered modding them than I realized you really need some electronics and soldering knowledge. The bondo and custom case work is farily easy though.
Anyways this PS3 laptop looks amazing.
He did a great job but the case is fugly in my opinion.
