I have played Guitar Hero a couple of times and it usually ends in my neck getting tired from standing at the demo station or getting dizzy from the scrolling ‘notes’ in the middle of the screen. There seem to be people that like to play for long stretches, like 24 hours.
A man from Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire in the UK has set his sights on playing the music game for at least 24 hours to set the record which does not currently exist. 24 hours is the least amount of time that the people at Guinness would except, but 26 year old Zeke Iddon has other plans. He says:
I’d love to try and push it beyond the 30 hour mark. But whether I can physically cope with staring constantly at a screen filled with moving dots for even 24 hours, let alone longer, remains to be seen.
The hopefully record setting run will begin at 10 A.M. on June 26th with the bar where the attempt is happening being open to the public overnight. Here’s to Zeke, may he rock around the clock. You know what? Even I’m not proud of that lame joke.
Brit Aims for Guinness Guitar Hero Record [Geeks.CO.UK]

Once this record is set, I think it wont be long before somebody breaks it. I’m thinking 48 hours and a broken hand.
I could maybe play on Hard or Medium for 24 hours, but some of those songs on Expert just kill your left wrist and right forearm from pushing “frets” and strumming. The good news is that GH5 makes playing for long periods of time easy as you can make a playlist of as many songs as you want. There’s actually an achievement for creating and playing through a playlist that’s more than an hour long.
I could never play Guitar Hero for 24 hrs straight. Every single time i finish a song and look away from the TV, it looks like everything in my house is getting taller.
But the best of luck to him.
