Woman Bribes Child With Video Games To Steal Drugs

At a young age, many children don’t completely grasp the reality of what is right and what is wrong. That’s potentially why when a 9-year-old child was instructed to steal drugs from his mother in return for a video game, he complied.

Specifically, the boy was asked to steal his mother’s prescription Percocet by a woman named Shannon Leathers–who evidently has a very serious drug problem. At the time, Leathers was staying with her family in an apartment closeby to the boy and his mother.

Thankfully, when the mother confronted her son as to where the missing medication was, he quickly revealed the events that had unfolded. The police were then able to quickly track down Leathers and charge her of  “possessing a narcotic, criminal solicitation, receiving stolen property and a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child.” Her next court date is scheduled for August 11th.

    Look, shes crying.

On an episode of cops, the officer asked, “why do criminals cry more than anybody I know”

So the kid got a free game (It doesn’t say it was taken as “evidence” but if it has been I wouldn’t be surprised) and an idiot gets to face the consequences of her actions. Win all round.

I’m not sure if a 9-year-old being rewarded for stealing drugs from his mom can exactly be classified as a “win”, but alright.

Hadn’t considered that. I remember doing some stupid crap when i was 9, but i don’t think anything on that level.

I agree with sleep on that one, but her problems are not going to be solved anytime soon now that she goes to jail

Anyone who abuses a substance will go to great lengths to fill addiction voids, especially drugs.

This shows what games do to people. Even 18 year olds would steal drugs just for a video game fix. This is sad for gamers everywhere. /trollface

Even trolling, you’re a stupid guy.

Dude, lighten up. It was just sarcasm.

My sarcasm detector hardly works, also I’ve had no sleep for over 48 hours, I’m a bit… out of it

            Yeah. The /trollface should’ve been a big sign. :P

I agree with KR3W… these games are blasphemous!

Clearly they should all be banned.

      • SourSight August 3, 2010 at 23:22 - Reply

This is totally the fault of the evil video games they make, These games should be banned from every store.

Wow, how low people go to get their next “fix” is just disgusting. This is just another bad apple in the video game area. Wonder if Fox News comes in and totally twists this story around, and saying the kid played GTA IV and stole the drugs himself.
