At a young age, many children don’t completely grasp the reality of what is right and what is wrong. That’s potentially why when a 9-year-old child was instructed to steal drugs from his mother in return for a video game, he complied.
Specifically, the boy was asked to steal his mother’s prescription Percocet by a woman named Shannon Leathers–who evidently has a very serious drug problem. At the time, Leathers was staying with her family in an apartment closeby to the boy and his mother.
Thankfully, when the mother confronted her son as to where the missing medication was, he quickly revealed the events that had unfolded. The police were then able to quickly track down Leathers and charge her of “possessing a narcotic, criminal solicitation, receiving stolen property and a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child.” Her next court date is scheduled for August 11th.
