Major Nelson Taunts Kevin Butler’s Battleship Mistake

As we all know, PlayStation 3′s VP of everything, Kevin Butler, was tricked into re-tweeting the PS3′s root key–a code which allows for the Sony console to be jailbroken. At the time, he believed it to be a game of Battleship, but he was dead wrong. It seems as though Major Nelson decided to get a little laugh out of this situation on Twitter.

While it may not be the most professional thing to do, you can’t help but find some humor in it. Kevin Butler made a mistake, and as a result Major Nelson got to have some fun with it–actually, it seems as though a lot of people had fun with it.

You can't help but feel bad for Kevin Butler...I mean, They didn't even tell him what the Rootkey was? And he's the VP?

As a PlayStation user, I find this pretty unprofessional of him to do. As a gamer, I find it humorous, but still unprofessional. Then again, mistakes are there to laugh and learn from.

As a gamer I find this humorous. That Kevin Butler account probably run by some intern (who is now run by a new one) Sony has taken shots at Microsoft and Kinect. So now Microsoft has something to reply with and they did it, and for that I am grateful. Ads aren't like what they used to be. "Genesis does what Nintendon't." We don't have companies picking on each other anymore, and I miss that.

I miss companies picking on each other, too. But there are only 3 consoles now, and each of them know their place in the console "war" :(

Wait a second. I just re-read his tweets and to be honest, I think this was taken a little out of context. In one of Major's tweets, he posted a link to a 3rd party HDD. he realize his mistake, quickly deleted his tweet, then said that it must have been his coffee deprivation that had made him say that. He then posted the aforementioned tweet because he had made a similar mistake to Kevin Butler's. I do not believe this was a personal attack, whatsoever.

Sorry but Sony fans seems to forget this jab at Microsoft, when one little tweet gets sent Sony's way, "OH WAIT, HOLD ON, VERY UN-COOL MICROSOFT!" I am sorry but what happened people? Did we lose our sense of humor all of a sudden? It's a joke, meant to be FUNNY, we need to just realize it is a joke, and laugh at it, don't get all bent out of shape over a little poke at Sony.

I don't mind the joke as much as I do the fact that Major Nelson is making fun of the situation, which ended with the person who runs Kevin Butler's Twitter most likely getting fired. I'm sure that's not what Major Nelson intended, but I'm guessing that why some people are getting upset.

I love how when Sony takes a shot at Microsoft, it's all natural and fun and games. But when Microsoft takes a shot a Sony, it's "unprofessional." Yikes.

I apologize that this is a bit off topic, but I just need to ask you guys this question. A couple of days ago, I was watching a show called "Scare Tactics" on YouTube. To my surprise, one of the "characters" in one of the episodes looked, at least to me, pretty much exactly like Kevin Butler.

So, did Kevin used to be one of the cast members for Scare Tactics before he went to Sony, or am I just going crazy and this is someone else completely. Take a look.

Jerry Lambert (the guy who plays Kevin Butler) does a lot of other commercials. However, he mainly does Sony ads as Kevin Butler nowadays.

I agree with Gor, whats with the Sony fans crying foul on Maj. Nelson? KB has made fun of Microsoft plenty of time, I don't see you guys saying he's being "Unprofessional". So lets be calm, it's our turn to have some fun .

Wow...I can't believe how many people are saying this was unprofessional, especially Kreyg. If anyone was a fan of tongue-in-cheek humor and busting chops I would have thought it was Kreyg. At it's worst, this was just an employee from one company taking a jab at another company. We see that all day long on the TV, or hear it on the radio...hell, I've even heard Kreyg take jabs at other broadcasters and websites, nothing mean or spiteful but playful taunting, which is all I think this was.

I find it funny as hell

"While it may not be the most professional thing to do"

Doesn't mean I'm calling him unprofessional. I think you're srsly blowing this out of proportion. Did you stop reading at that point and write this?

It REALLY seems like you did...read the next part of that SAME sentence bro..

Please, before you go saying shit about me and the way I present things, actually read them. I in no way called him unprofessional, I merely implied it might NOT be professional of SOMEONE WHO WORKS FOR A BILLION DOLLAR CORPORATION to do, but I said it was god damn funny.
