E’Lara and Caddoc are two of the characters that you’ll be able to play as in the upcoming game, Hunted. Currently, there are plans for two more characters to be announced at a later date. These heroes have one mission, to save the world of Kala Moor — a world in which townsfolk are vanishing and heinous creatures are spouting corruption.
The look and feel of this game is on par with some of the best looking games out there. It is a very dark and gritty dungeon crawl with a bit of hack n’ slash elements mixed in. With elements of magic and use of different skills in there too. The game has a Demon’s Souls look to it, but has a significantly faster pace–think of the speed that is present in most modern first-person shooters, and you have the speed at which Hunted moves.
The two characters we got to play as were, Caddoc and E’Lara. Each character has their own set of skills which need to be used in tandem with each other in order to complete specific tasks. This is not a one man army type of game, you will need to work together in order to succeed.
E’Lara being skilled in ranged weapons, her primary weapon being the Sky Splitter. This bow, is very accurate at long rages, and with different enchantments on it, can be very useful when it comes to disposing enemies, or helping your partner deal with them more easily. She also has the use of four different magic traits that are for when enemies get in too close for the bow.
Caddoc on the other hand is more of a brute type character, the typical warrior class. His main weapon of choice being a brutal cudgel, basically a mace type weapon for maximum up close and personal damage. Just like E’Lara, Caddoc does also have the ability to use magic, which can come in handy when enemies get too overwhelming.
The whole working together as a team comes into play very soon into the demo we played at PAX. If you don’t have communication skills, you will need to get some to play this game, in order to help each other out when needed. E’Lara taking enemies out from a distance, or temporally paralyzing enemies for Caddoc to clean up. If you work together as a team, the game will pose a great challenge, however, if you choose to play alone–you won’t make it very far at all.
Hunted is a game that should be on people’s radar, it is a different route of the classic dungeon crawl games, with many additions that will keep you entertained for some time. While we only got to play one section of one level of the game, that was enough to make an effect on us. If you like the mystical dungeon crawl games, but want to do it with a friend and at a fast and intense pace, Hunted is a game you should check out.
