With the PlayStation Network slowly coming back to life, but some aspects of the service are still down. Mainly the PlayStation Store, which has no definite time-table for when it will be back up, but when it does, we all get a little gift from Sony for the trouble that has been caused by the PSN being taken offline, and our personal information being leaked.
This package will be made available to all existing registered PlayStation Network and Qriocity users in North America (US and Canada), and will be made available shortly after we have fully restored the service. More specific details about these offers and eligibility requirements will be posted as the services go live.
Some of you expected them to offer us some little known PSN game as a compensation, well, actually no. We will get to download two games of our choice from the list of possible games. We will have access to these games for 30 days once the PSN Store comes back online. Then they will no longer be free to download.
For those of use who own a PS3 will be able to chose two games from this list.
- Dead Nation
- inFAMOUS
- LittleBigPlanet
- Super Stardust HD
- Wipeout HD + Fury
Those without a PS3, but own a PSP, will be able to choose two games from this list.
- LittleBigPlanet (PSP)
- ModNation Racers
- Pursuit Force
- Killzone Liberation
But wait there’s more!
- A selection of “On Us” rental movie titles will be available to PlayStation Network customers over one weekend, where Video Service is available. Those titles will be announced soon.
- 30 days free PlayStation Plus membership for non PlayStation Plus subscribers.
- Existing PlayStation Plus subscribers will receive an additional 60 days of free subscription.
- Existing Music Unlimited Premium Trial subscription members will receive an additional 30 days of free premium subscription.
- Additional 30 days + time lost for existing members of Music Unlimited Premium/Basic subscription free of charge for existing Premium/Basic members.
- To welcome users Home, PlayStation Home will be offering 100 free virtual items. Additional free content will be released soon, including the next addition to the Home Mansion personal space, and Ooblag’s Alien Casino, an exclusive game.
Not bad at all for PSN being down for around 24 days. While yeah, the games on the list are not brand new, they are better than most out there. So once the PSN Store comes back online, be sure to get your ass online and download the two games you want, they won’t be free forever!

There's a rumor going around saying Plus users can choose 3 out of the 5, but it doesnt look like it'll happen.
This is absolutely great. Since I already own InFamous and LittleBigPlanet I'll be getting Dead Nation for sure. Not sure if I should get Super Stardust HD or Wipeout, they both seem fun. And too bad I don't own a PSP or that would've been two more free games. Oh well. Thanks a bunch Sony!

Plus members always get free games. However, free games from being a Plus member stay on your account as long as your subscribed to Plus. So when your subscription runs dry your free goodies go bye bye.
I'm so happy that InFamous is one of the games being offered, I was so close to getting the platinum trophy for that game then I traded it in.

A LOT of people are complaining about what's being offered over on the EU blog, mainly because of them owning all of them already. Sony probably should've considered those that already own all of them with an alternative, perhaps any 1 free game from the store instead of 2 from the list.
I'm happy with what's being offered (Ratchet & Dead Nation for me). You can mistake some of the whiners for being ungrateful but at the same time you can say it's a bit of a letdown for loyal & hardcore Sony fans.
Edit: Pretty sweet that you lot get some free movie rentals, wished we got that over here.

Well, the EU peeps already got LittleBigPlanet and inFAMOUS for free from PSN in a deal from a while back. I think they also got a few others on the list for free too, but I'm not sure
I already have inFAMOUS, LittleBigPlanet, and Super Stardust HD.
So I'll be getting those other 2 I guess. If you don't have inFAMOUS or LittleBigPlanet be sure to get those. Easily the best on the list.

Its ok but I would have rather get money in my wallet and be able to buy any game I want since I own wipeout superstardust infamous and little big planet.
To the people that are saying they already own the disc copies of InFamous and LBP, you do realize you can get those off the store then sell the disc versions and get some free money right?

It's pretty pathetic. In Sony's Terms of Service it even states that they don't have reimburse consumers, but they did. And this is how people treat them.
I don't know if some people are expected too much from the Welcome Back program and got their hopes up or what. You can't please everyone.

I'm not complaining at all. This seems more than fair to me considering Sony didn't really have to do anything, especially not for the free PSN users. I think I'll be doing inFamous and Wipeout HD, although it would have been nice if Modnation Racers was on the PS3 list like it is on the PSP. Either way, I'm happy with what Sony is offering.

They don't have to do anything, but it is good for business to do this. If Sony wasn't offering something like this I can guarantee that a lot of accounts would be cancelled.
