Fans of the Grand Theft Auto series might have been slightly disappointed this year at E3. The reason being? Well, there was no announcement of the next Grand Theft Auto game! While it might upset some, others are patiently waiting. According to GameSpot, a source confirms that the game’s development is “well underway.” However, this really should be a no-brainer.
The source has also said that the game is “having final touches such as minigames being applied to it,” and that a release in 2012 is “pretty likely.” While it would be nice to believe that this is all true, there is no confirmation. At this moment it’s all hear-say. We’ll have to mark this as a rumor until Rockstar themselves come out and reveal the game, or break any kind of news on it’s development.
There have been rumors about the location and some of the characters we might see, but again — nothing has been confirmed. It’s been three years since the release of GTA IV, so it only makes sense that a new GTA would be in development. Hopefully, the next installment of the series will be the best yet.

I don't like the words "Pretty likely".. but i can expect the announcement, next E3.. and a release date by than too. I would say a late 2012 release or Early 2013 would be perfect..
Anyways, Rockstar doesn't need E3, or any other event to announce a new game, especially GTA V. No matter where they announce it or when it will be HUGE news. It would have been nice to see something at E3, but oh well.
I expect this to hit MAYBE fall 2012, or early 2013 around the time GTA IV launched.
Yeah, to be 100% honest, if they announce it next E3, that would leave a window of less than 6 months for release. Doesn't really seem likely (
I'm hoping for a huge open world game, like San Andreas. It'd also be fucking awesome if they could optimize it decently for the PC.
Like the other GTA games, we probably won't be seeing it on PC until like 5+ months after its release on consoles.

GTA with LA Noire graphics, and a larger world. That is what I want to see in this next GTA, and to tell you the truth I think Rockstar can deliver and go over and above. They are just that awesome of a developer.
I can imagine them making their Motion Scan facial capture system even more advanced with an extremely larger world. Almost makes me want to jizz...

I feel like believing this. This just makes so much sense except that it took more time then one year after GTA 4's announcement to the release, so a 2012 release is maybe not so likely... We can still hope though!
