MW3 PC Requirements Surface – PC Version is Just a Console Port

MW3

Modern Warfare 2 on PC was in my humble opinion a heap of crap.

Sure it was fun to play and admittedly enjoyable at times, but the console-esque matchmaking and peer-to-peer server hosting reeked of console emphasis, ultimately leaving a well deserved sour taste in the mouths of PC gamers the world over.

Well thankfully in the latest game, Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer games said from the beginning of development that they were aiming to listen to the PC crowd on a number of issues including dedicated servers, Steamworks support, and even LAN support. Today the minimum system requirements for the game were made available and they’re definitely ported straight from a console.

A minimum GPU of 256MB? What’s Windows XP? Definitely not the sort of stuff we’re seeing elsewhere

You can check the system requirements out below.

MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

OS: Windows XP / Windows Vista / Windows 7
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 or AMD Phenom X38750 processor or better
Memory: 16 GB free hard drive space / 2GB RAM
Video Card: Shader 3.0 or better 256 MB NVIDIA®GeForce 8600GT / ATI Radeon X1950 or better
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0C or later

Nothing shocking here, apart from BF3 everything on PC tends to be a console port.

Look at those minimum requirements. You'll need a beast from 6 years ago to run this game!

Those requirements are so shocking, I thought they would be way less.

In defence of Black Ops, the spawn system in World at War was much worse. The funny thing was Treyarch didn't develop the spawn system, a third-party company did.

Okay you guys got me. How does having a low system requirement automatically mean it was ported from the console?

Was kinda expecting this because come on they've been on the same engine for so long making tiny adjustments it wouldn't take a super computer to run CoD
