Update: A couple of images have appeared on Kotaku which suggest that Assassin’s Creed 3 will be set during the American Revolution with what appears to be a Native American main character.
We’ll have to wait a few days to find out if any of this is true, but it’s certainly an interesting concept.

If you’ve managed to stay up-to-date with the Assassin’s Creed franchise after four games in the main series, then you’re more than likely in it for the long haul. That said, you’ll want to keep an eye open over the next few days for what Ubisoft claims is a “major announcement”.
Without offering any details, a recent Facebook post declared that fans should look to http://www.assassinscreed.com/ tomorrow for more information.
Earlier this month, Ubisoft officially confirmed the existence of Assassin’s Creed 3, although no specific information was revealed besides an October 30th release date. Hopefully, this supposedly major announcement will shine some light on the upcoming installment in the series.

Of course it's a new game. The main plot isn't done, yet, and they release a new game each year. So, no shit, Sherlock.

Revolutionary War era? That's pretty interesting. I can't think of any games that deal with that era except possibly Total War.
I've never really been interested in the Assassin's Creed franchise, but the different settings the games take place do. Hearing about the third game possibly be during the American Revolution era is sounds pretty interesting.
I remember seeing some people speculate that the third would take place during a feudal Japan era or something. Always thought would pretty badass, being a ninja assassin killing fools.
As what Omni said, a Japanese set game would be amazing. There was also some suggestion before Revelations that the next game would be set in ancient Egypt, killing Pharaoh's etc. So I don't know how much to read into this, plus having missed out Revelations (for the time being) I'm not even sure I want to read into it.
