What is Hot Blooded Gaming?

Hot Blooded Gaming is an independent website run by a group of friends who have a passion for gaming.  We have our site with news, review, info, a forum community, and more.  We also run a live broadcast Monday-Friday on Justin.tv where we play games online with our readers.

How Are Reviews and Scoring Done?

Our Hot Blooded Reviews are intended to be honest, even-handed opinions. We do not claim them to be perfect decisions as to whether or not any given person should buy a specific game, and we welcome reasoned disagreement.

Our scores are rated out of 10, with a 5 as average. Most big review sites use a 7 average system, which allows for very little distinction among good games, which is self-defeating as it does not let you accurately gauge how “good” a game is.

Some sites don’t use scores at all, which is a very valid way of doing things. Generally, one should not focus just on the number, but on how the game is described. If you love collectibles and the person reviewing the game hates them more than anything else in the world, in a game with a lot of collectibles or where that is the focus, their score will be lower than your own would be. However, we have decided to stick with scores as it allows for an easy ranking system: Game X is more worth playing than Game Y, in the reviewer’s opinion.

The important thing to remember is that the enjoyment you get out of a game is subjective, and that reviews such as ours should only be used as guides towards your decision to play, buy, rent, skip, or flush a game. You may love a game we hate; you may hate a game we love. We simply try to be as honest and accurate as possible, giving our true opinion about the game, so as to help you as much as possible.

How Should I Comment?

Here at Hot Blooded Gaming we want to foster a strong, active community with thorough discussion of news, reviews, and games in general. We need everyone’s help to accomplish this! We realize that everyone doesn’t always have something to say about every individual article, but whenever you have a thought, you should leave it as a comment and let it be discussed.

We discourage single-word comments like “lol,” and prefer things that really add to the discussion of an article, whether it’s a disagreement on a review, a good or a bad reaction to a news article, or even a funny joke. HBG should be YOUR spot to hang out on the Internet, a place for you to meet friendly, intelligent people who can discuss things that are enjoyable.

We do not tolerate hate speech, trolling, flamewars, or anything of the sort. Disagreements are fine, but name-calling isn’t. We will delete comments and, in extreme circumstances, ban people who we feel are breaking the rules. The admins of Hot Blooded Gaming have the final say in anything regarding the site including bans and comment deletions. We will do our best to be fair.
